AIMS is perfectly suited to news trading. As you have mentinoed tey are not specifically news trades at all they are AIMS trades. It just gives us that luxury of knowing we are going to get fresh momentum.A AIMS is a very good way t trade this as inevitably the alli will go to sleep certianly in the run up to NFP once a month on the relevant markets.

I have always fund it curious why so many people choose not to trade news. In hindsight it is becaus ethey are fearful which has no place in the trading psyche.

Without a single exception every single professional trader be they independent, retail or institutional every single one of them trades news, not necessarily the news itself but they do not exit the market prior to news. They trade it and/or trade through it.

The more you think the more you see.

Nice one Immy

Hi Richard, in my opinion, the only thing that keeps me away from trading news releases is slippage. If I was guaranteed execution of both entry and stop loss during news releases then it'd be all I'd trade. Just bracket the market and let the news dictate your entry direction. Unfortunately though with the way we're treated as retail traders it's just not worth the risk of taking the news entry and being triggered and/or closed well beyond your calculated levels..... however, 10 - 15 secs after the initial release, go for it! \m/
Cheers
Now, I choose to make a profit in trading.

Agreed Dave. Just bracketing the market is too simplistic. Immy has shown some good examples on here using SAR in one instance. I think the importance is to remember it's not a news trade per se but still an AIMS trade and the set up rules apply but I agree potential slippage does create a greater risk, though personally I have never really suffered with it with my broker. News releases as you say can be as little as 15 seconds in, speaker news can be a little gentler.

I think it's personal preferences and being comfortable with what you trade is as important a factor as any,

A Lovely NFP Trade.

The strategy is simple. you wait for the spike and pull back. you don't really need the chart, what you need to see is where price was and where it went and then a 50% ish pullback and bang you're in. the second way to get in is on the m1 chart it often pulls back in the next few candles (the first technique is too fast it happens within m1 bar) on this chart u see that the xx.33 bar offered a spot to go long as well.
